Monday: Reflection
Lately I’ve been thinking about the importance of the space between things.
The few minutes between one meeting and the next.
The pause before I pick up my phone.
The moment after the kids leave and before I start work.
The transition from work to home.
It’s easy to move from one thing to the next without ever really leaving the thing we just finished.
Our body might be in the next room, but our mind is still in the last conversation, the last email, the last problem.
I’m practicing making those transitions more intentional.
Taking a breath.
Getting up and walking around.
Looking out the window.
Letting the last thing be finished before I begin the next thing.
Not because I need more empty time in my day, but because I want to actually arrive in the time I have.
When I give myself a pause, I have a better chance of showing up the way I want to—with more patience, attention, and presence.
Maybe the pause isn’t between the important things.
Maybe the pause is what helps me be fully there for them.
So today, notice one transition in your day.
Before you move from one thing to the next, give yourself 30 seconds.
Take a breath.
Notice where you are.
Let go of what just happened.
And then ask yourself:
How do I want to show up for what comes next?
